Honey Dripper and Glitchee
17 Nov 2020
A couple of pedals this month, from Madbean Pedals. First up, the Honey Dripper, which is based on the Colorsound Dipthonizer. The original pedal was only around for a few years in the 1970s, so it's quite rare (and expensive) to find an original. It's an auto wah style sound, with four different 'sounds'.
Overall it was a pretty easy build... apart from the first time I fired it up, and got no sound. Turns out I was a little bit too keen, and had forgot to put any of the chips onto the board. Yep. That'd do it.
For the enclosure, I got the wife of a work friend to do some acrylic paint pours for me. They turned out really well! Added some waterslide decals for lettering, and job done.
Next, the Glitchee. This is a cross between a Bit Commander and Funk Machine - one and two octaves down, and a filter effect. It's pretty wild... and glitchy, hence the name.
This is one of those builds where there is that one special part that you can only get at one place... so you need to buy more stuff to justify the shipping charges to yourself. NSL32 optocoupler, I'm looking at you.
I must have drilled the holes a little close to the top of the enclosure, as I needed to then put the potentiometers onto the belt sander to get them to fit. Whoops.
Again, an acrylic paint pour enclosure:

This one is similar to the technique used on these pedals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SA_S42DETT4
