And now, for something a little bit different...
My sister-in-law just published a novel called Dark Conduits: The Null , and she is doing some cons to try to get interest (and perhaps even sales!) The book has a witchcraft/urban fantasy theme, and we thought it would be cool to have something to attract people to her table.
Enter the Witch Pricker 3000. It 'magically' scans your finger, and determines whether you have magical blood or not.
Inside, it's an 8x8 LED matrix to pretend to be a finger scanner, some micro switches to detect someone placing their finger on the pad, a matrix driver and Arduino (Adafruit Pro Trinket).
Outside it's MDF that I've routed, and some black transparent and red transparent plastic. The badge on the front is acrylic with a water slide decal underneath.
