First guitar build - design

I've been thinking about building an electric guitar for a little while now - seems like a good way to combine my woodworking, electronics, and the rest of the family's musical tendencies. Having a look at a few sites online has got me thinking that I might be able to do this.

The first phase was planning the look of it. I spent a few hours one day with my 9 year old drawing guitars. Discounting the crazy ones that looked like cat faces, we then cut out some from cardboard at full scale.

The final design was one that my partner influenced heavily - she'll be the one playing the guitar, so it was probably fair to let her choose one that didn't look like a giant cat. It's a bass guitar, with an 86cm scale.
